British band, Jungle return with “Sunshine,” taken from their fifth studio album also titled “Sunshine,” released 14 August 2026 on Caiola Records through AWAL. It was written by Josh Lloyd Watson and Lydia Kitto, produced by the pair with extra production from Tom McFarland.
Song of the summer? Nope, it arrived too late for that, but it is still a nice addition to the end of August.

That Opening Groove
It opens with a hard to fault intro, a clap rhythm sits with a somewhat quirky electric piano section, analog type crackles pop in the background. It wasn’t intended to sound perfect and I enjoy that. The song soon drops with Jungle’s signature brass sounds emerging, although it does not come anywhere near centre focus unlike other songs from the band.
Strings, Sway, And Soulful Vocals
Strings enter the mix towards the latter part of the first minute, and I find it hard not to sway to the rhythm. The vocals are delivered by Lydia Kitto, and she matches the vibe of the song and title with ease, oozing confidence with her soulful performance. Any song titled “Sunshine” is always going to feel warm and inviting, and this one does not fail to do that. It is technically not overcomplicated, it thrives on a continuous cadence and it does not reinvent the wheel much either, but this was never likely the intention. The group are just continuing to build upon where they left off.
More Feeling Than Season
The song has a summer atmosphere, even birds appear later in the track, and the addition of birdsong brings even more positivity to the mood. Although the band claim it isn’t about the season, it is more of a feeling. It actually came out quite late in summer though, and personally I feel it could have become quite the summer hit for 2026 had it arrived much earlier, in June for example. But with the summer heatwave continuing in the UK, it still has the chance to be blasted out at BBQs up and down the isle.
Final Thoughts
Would I play it again? Yes, certainly. I feel it is best served early morning when the world is waking, or as mentioned earlier at a BBQ where the calm vibes are in abundance. But as for it reaching the same heights as Jungle’s “Back On 74,” which released in 2023, I would not put my last dollar on it.

Jungle have always been particularly good at making polished production feel effortless rather than overworked. What I like about this track is the balance between groove and atmosphere; it has enough detail to reward headphones but still feels immediate.
